As the New Year approaches I can’t help but think about a New Year’s Resolution and for me, I think I’ve decided that my resolution will be to “set aside more time to skate for fun” in 2012. Do you have a New Year’s Resolution yet?
When deciding on a New Year’s Resolution this season, remember roller skating is a great way to add fitness into your daily routine. You can skate just about anywhere and be working towards your fitness goals while having fun. Roller skating is also a great way to bring your family together as a fun and affordable activity.
So here are the details of the New Year’s Beach Skate:
When: January 1st, 2012 (Sunday) 12 Noon
Where: Long Beach, California (Shoreline Bike Path)
What to Bring: Skates with wheels that you don’t mind being outdoors near sand. Anything else you require for an afternoon skate.
Who: Everyone, all ages, styles, skill level are welcome!
Visit the official Event Page for a map of the local area, details also on our facebook page.
There’s a great bike path/boardwalk along the sand between Shoreline Village and Belmont Shore. There are restaurants, restrooms and libations at both Shoreline Village and Belmont Shore so don’t feel obligated to stick with the group if you’d like to stay a little longer at either place.
We will be meeting at Ocean and Junipero near the big grassy area at 12 noon and departing shortly after, if you show up late, contact me here and I can let you know where the group is so you can catch up.
If you have an extra pair of skates, be sure to invite a friend who is a non-skater so they can see how much fun it can be. Also, there will be more than a few professional skaters and instructors to lend a helping hand.
I’m hoping that the event is a success and I would love to organize or help others organize group skates throughout the year. If you have a group of friends who love to skate or who you would love to get together, contact me so I might be able to help you coordinate and publicize. Hope to see you all there this New Year’s Day..let’s start the year rolling!
